Glasshouse products include tomatoes, capsicums, cucumbers and eggplant which are available in New Zealand all year round. The local product is at its peak from October through to April. Freshmax is a major marketer of these glasshouse products in New Zealand, and also runs an import replacement program from Australia during the winter months when local supply does not meet demand.

VARIETIES AND NEW ZEALAND GROWING REGIONS

There are many different varieties of glasshouse products grown throughout New Zealand. Freshmax markets two significant licensed glasshouse products being the "tomatoberry" and "sweet vine capsicums".

Freshmax has the exclusive marketing rights for tomatoberry in New Zealand. Characterised by a red, eye-catching, shiny skin with a sweet taste and aroma, this one bite fruit is an exciting variety.  Tomatoberry is proving really popular with New Zealanders and we are building up our glasshouse plantings to keep up with consumer demand. Our growers are based in Dargaville, South Auckland and Nelson.

Sweet vine capsicums are grown in the beautiful area of Whakatane, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. These mini, super sweet, vine ripened capsicums contain virtually no seeds and are red, orange and yellow. Consumers enjoy their convenient size of being able to roast them whole or simply using one in a sandwich with no waste.
